1 John 1

1What was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we gazed upon, and which our hands have touched, about the word of life.

2And the life appeared, and we have seen and testify and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father and appeared to us.

3What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may share fellowship with us; indeed, our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

4And we write these things so that our joy may be complete.

5And this is the message we heard from him and report to you: God is light, and no darkness exists in him at all.

6If we say that we have communion with him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.

7But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.

8If we say that we do not have sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not within us.

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous so that he forgives us our sins and purifies us from all unrighteousness.

10If we say that we have not sinned, we make a liar of him, and his word is not in us.
