Numbers 12

Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had taken, for he had taken a Cushite woman.

They said, "Has Yahweh really spoken only to Moses? Hasn't he spoken also to us?" And Yahweh heard.

The man Moses was exceedingly humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.

Yahweh suddenly spoke to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam: "You three, come out to the tent of meeting." And the three of them came out.

Yahweh came down in a pillar of cloud, stood at the tent's entrance, called Aaron and Miriam, and both of them came forward.

He said, "Hear now my words: if there is a prophet among you, I, Yahweh, will reveal myself to him in a vision; I will speak to him in a dream."

My servant Moses is not so; he is faithful in all my house.

I speak with him mouth to mouth, even in a vision, and not in riddles, and he beholds the likeness of Yahweh. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

Yahweh's anger burned against them, and he departed.

The cloud departed from over the tabernacle, and there was Miriam, leprous like snow. Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, leprous.

Aaron said to Moses, "My lord, please do not set this sin against us, in which we have acted foolishly and in which we have sinned."

Please let her not be like one dead whose flesh was half eaten when he came out of his mother's womb.

Moses cried out to Yahweh, saying, "God, please heal her now!"

Yahweh said to Moses, "If her father had spit in her face, should she not be ashamed seven days? Let her be shut outside the camp seven days, and afterward let her be brought in."

Miriam was shut out from the camp seven days, and the people did not set out until Miriam was brought in.

Afterward the people journeyed from Hazeroth and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.
