Joshua 15

1The lot for the tribe of Judah's sons according to their families was toward Edom's border, the wilderness of Zin to the south, from the end of the south.

2Their southern border ran from the edge of the Salt Sea, from the bay facing south.

3It went southward to the ascent of Akrabbim, passed on to Zin, ascended southward to Kadesh-barnea, passed to Hezron, ascended to Addar, and turned to Karkaa.

4It passed to Azmon, went out at the brook of Egypt, and the border's outlets reached the sea. This shall be your south border.

5The eastern boundary was the Salt Sea to the end of the Jordan. The boundary on the north side ran from the sea bay at the end of the Jordan.

6The border went up to Beth-hoglah, passed by the north of Beth-arabah, and went up to the stone of Bohan son of Reuben.

7The border rose from the Valley of Achor to Debir, turning north toward Gilgal—which faces the ascent of Adummim, south of the brook—then crossed to the waters of En-shemesh, its outlets ending at En-rogel.

8The border ascended the Valley of the Son of Hinnom to the southern shoulder of the Jebusite—which is Jerusalem—and ascended to the top of the mountain facing the Valley of Hinnom westward, at the northern end of the Valley of Rephaim.

9The boundary ran from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, went out to the cities of Mount Ephron, and ran to Baalah, which is Kiriath-jearim.

10The border turned from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, passed to the shoulder of Mount Jearim on the north—which is Chesalon—went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed to Timnah.

11And the border went out to the northern flank of Ekron, was drawn to Shikkeron, passed Mount Baalah, went out to Jabneel, and its extremities reached the sea.

12The sea border extended to the Great Sea. This border is the border of the sons of Judah all around, according to their families.

13To Caleb son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the sons of Judah, as Yahweh instructed Joshua: Kiriath-arba, Arba the father of Anak—that is Hebron.

14Caleb dispossessed from there the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

15He went up from there against the inhabitants of Debir, and Debir's former name was Kiriath-sepher.

16Caleb said, "Whoever strikes Kiriath Sepher and captures it, I will give him Achsah my daughter as wife."

17Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's brother, captured it, and he gave his daughter Achsah to him as a wife.

18When she came, she urged him to ask her father for a field. She dismounted from the donkey, and Caleb said to her, "What do you want?"

19She said, "Give me a blessing, for you have given me land in the south; give me springs of water." He gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

20This is the inheritance of the tribe of Judah's sons according to their families.

21These were the cities at the edge of Judah's tribe toward Edom's border in the south: Kabzeel, Eder, and Jagur.

22Kinah, Dimonah, and Adadah,

23Kedesh, Hazor, and Ithnan.

24Ziph, Telem, and Bealoth,

25Hazor Hadattah, Kirioth, Hezron, which is Hazor.

26Amam, Shema, and Moladah.

27Hazar-gaddah, Heshmon, and Beth-palet

28Hazar-shual, Beer-sheba, Bizjothjah

29Baalah, Iim, and Ezem,

30Eltolad, Chesil, and Hormah

31Ziklag, Madmannah, and Sansannah

32Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain, and Rimmon—all twenty-nine cities with their villages.

33In the Shephelah, Eshtaol, Zorah, and Ashnah.

34Zanoah, En-gannim, Tappuah, and Enaim.

35Jarmuth, Adullam, Socoh, Azekah

36Shaaraim, Adithaim, Gederah, and Gederothaim: fourteen cities and their villages.

37Zenan, Hadashah, and Migdal-gad.

38Dilean, Mizpeh, and Joktheel.

39Lachish, Bozkath, and Eglon.

40Cabbon, Lahmam, Kithlish,

41Gederoth, Beth Dagon, Naamah, and Makkedah; sixteen cities and their villages.

42Libnah, Ether, and Ashan.

43Jiphtah, Ashnah, and Nezib

44Keilah, Achzib, and Mareshah—nine cities and their villages.

45Ekron, with its towns and villages.

46From Ekron to the sea, all that lay alongside Ashdod, with their villages.

47Ashdod, its towns and villages; Gaza, its towns and villages; to the brook of Egypt and the Great Sea with its border.

48In the mountains, Shamir, Jattir, and Socoh.

49Dannah, Kirjath-sannah, that is Debir.

50Anab, Eshtemoh, and Anim

51Goshen, Holon, and Giloh—eleven cities with their villages.

52Arab, Dumah, and Eshean,

53Janim, Janum, Beth-tappuah, Aphekah

54Humtah, Kiriath Arba (Hebron), and Zior; nine cities and their villages.

55Maon, Carmel, Ziph, and Juttah.

56Jezreel, Jokdeam, and Zanoah

57Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah—ten cities and their villages.

58Halhul, Beth-zur, and Gedor.

59Maarath, Beth Anoth, and Eltekon; six cities and their villages.

60Kiriath-baal, which is Kiriath-jearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages.

61In the wilderness, Beth Arabah, Middin, and Secacah,

62Nibshan, Salt City, and En-gedi; six cities and their villages.

63The sons of Judah could not drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem, but the Jebusites dwelt among the sons of Judah in Jerusalem to this day.
