Joshua 13

1Joshua was old and advanced in age. Yahweh said to him, "You have grown old and advanced in age, and very much land remains to possess."

2This is the remaining land: all the Philistine districts, and all the Geshurites.

3From Shihor facing Egypt to Ekron's northern border—which counts as Canaanite—the five Philistine lords: Gazites, Ashdodites, Ashkelonites, Gittites, Ekronites, and Avvim.

4From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah of the Sidonians, to Aphek, to the border of the Amorites.

5And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon toward the sun's rising, from Baal-gad under Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath.

6All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephoth-mayim, all the Sidonians—I will drive them out from before the sons of Israel; only divide it to Israel as an inheritance, as I have commanded you.

7Now divide this land as an inheritance for the nine tribes and half the tribe of Manasseh.

8With him the Reubenites and Gadites took their inheritance, which Moses gave them east of the Jordan, just as Moses, Yahweh's servant, gave it to them.

9from Aroer, which is on the bank of the Arnon Valley, and the city in the middle of the valley, and all the plain from Medeba to Dibon;

10all the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the sons of Ammon.

11Gilead and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salcah;

12All the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who was king in Ashtaroth and Edrei—the one left from the remnant of the Rephaim—for Moses struck them and drove them out.

13But the sons of Israel did not dispossess the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and Geshur and Maacah have dwelt among Israel to this day.

14Only he gave no inheritance to the tribe of Levi; the fire offerings of Yahweh, the God of Israel—these are his inheritance, as he spoke to him.

15Moses assigned to the tribe of Reuben's sons according to their clans.

16Their border was from Aroer, on the edge of the Arnon Valley, the city in the middle of the valley, and all the tableland toward Medeba.

17Heshbon and all its cities in the plain, Dibon, Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon.

18Jahaz, Kedemoth, and Mephaath.

19Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zareth-shahar on the hill of the valley.

20Beth Peor, the springs of Pisgah, Beth Jeshimoth

21All the cities of the plain and the whole kingdom of Sihon, king of the Amorites who ruled in Heshbon—whom Moses struck, him and the chiefs of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the princes of Sihon who inhabited the land.

22The sons of Israel killed Balaam son of Beor the soothsayer with the sword among their slain.

23The border of Reuben's sons was the Jordan and its border; this was the inheritance of Reuben's sons according to their families, the cities and their villages.

24Moses gave to the tribe of Gad, to the sons of Gad according to their families.

25Their border was Jazer, all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, to Aroer, which lies before Rabbah.

26from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the border of Debir.

27And in the valley, Beth-aram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, and Zaphon, the remainder of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, the Jordan and its border, to the edge of the Sea of Chinnereth beyond the Jordan eastward.

28This is the inheritance of the sons of Gad according to their families, the cities and their villages.

29Moses gave to half the tribe of Manasseh. It belonged to half the tribe of the sons of Manasseh according to their families.

30Their border ran from Mahanaim across all Bashan, across the full kingdom of Og king of Bashan, and across all the towns of Jair that lay in Bashan, sixty cities.

31Half of Gilead, Ashtaroth, and Edrei—cities of Og's kingdom in Bashan—belonged to the sons of Machir son of Manasseh, to half the sons of Machir according to their families.

32These are the portions Moses allotted in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan at Jericho, to the east.

33Moses gave no inheritance to the tribe of Levi. Yahweh God of Israel—he is their inheritance, as he spoke to them.
