Hebrews 6

1Therefore, leaving the elementary word about Christ, let us advance to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and faith toward God.

2instruction about baptisms, imposition of hands, resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.

3And we will do this, if God permits.

4For it is impossible for those once enlightened, who both tasted the heavenly gift and became partakers of the Holy Spirit,

5and tasted God's good word and the powers of the coming age,

6And having fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they keep crucifying the Son of God afresh for themselves and exposing him to public shame.

7For the ground that drinks the rain coming often upon it and yields suitable crops for those for whose sake it is also cultivated receives blessing from God.

8But if it brings forth thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to a curse, whose end is to be burned.

9But, beloved, we are convinced concerning you of better things and things pertaining to salvation, even though we speak this way.

10For God is not unjust to forget your work and the love you showed toward his name, since you served the saints and continue serving them.

11But we long for each of you to demonstrate the same diligence toward the full assurance of hope until the end.

12so that you do not become sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

13For when God promised Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself.

14saying, "Surely I will bless you and multiply you."

15And thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

16For people swear by the greater, and the oath is an end to every dispute of theirs for confirmation.

17In which God, wanting more abundantly to show the heirs of the promise the unchangeable nature of his purpose, interposed an oath.

18so that through two unchangeable things, in which God cannot lie, we might have powerful encouragement, we who fled for refuge to grasp the hope set before us.

19We have this as an anchor for the soul, both sure and steadfast and entering within the veil.

20where Jesus entered for us as a forerunner, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
