Hebrews 2

1For this reason we must attend even more closely to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

2For if the message spoken through angels proved firm, and every transgression and disobedience received just recompense.

3How will we escape if we neglect such great salvation, which first began to be spoken through the Lord and was confirmed to us by those who heard?

4God also bore witness by both signs and wonders, by various powers, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to his own will.

5For he did not subject the coming world, about which we speak, to angels.

6But someone testified somewhere, saying, "What is man, that you remember him? Or the son of man, that you look after him?"

7You made him a little lower than the angels; with glory and honor you crowned him.

8You subjected all things under his feet; for in subjecting all things to him, he left nothing to him unsubmissive. But now we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

9But we see Jesus, made a little lower than the angels because of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor, so that apart from God he might taste death for everyone.

10For it was fitting for him, for whom all things exist and through whom all things exist, in leading many sons to glory, to perfect through sufferings the pioneer of their salvation.

11For both he who sanctifies and those being sanctified are all from one, which is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers.

12saying, “I will proclaim your name to my brothers, in the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to you.”

13And again, "I will trust in him." And again, "Look, here I am with the children whom God gave me."

14Therefore, since the children have shared in blood and flesh, he himself likewise partook of the same, so that through death he might nullify the one who holds power over death—that is, the devil.

15and deliver those who through fear of death were throughout all their life subject to slavery.

16For surely he does not take hold of angels, but of Abraham's seed.

17Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every way, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in matters related to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people.

18For in that he himself has suffered, having been tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
