Lumin Translation

Hebrews 8

Now the chief point concerning what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, who sat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens.

a minister of the holy places and the true tabernacle, which the Lord set up, not man.

For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; therefore this one also must have something to offer.

For if he were on earth, he would not even be a priest, there being priests who offer the gifts according to the law.

They serve a copy and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when about to complete the tabernacle; for it says, "See, you shall make everything according to the pattern shown to you on the mountain."

But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as he is also mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted upon better promises.

For if that first one had been blameless, no place would have been sought for a second.

For finding fault with them, he says: "See, days are coming," says the Lord, "and I will conclude a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah."

Not like the covenant I made with their fathers on the day when I took hold of their hand to lead them out from the land of Egypt, because they did not remain in my covenant, and I neglected them too, says the Lord.

For this is the covenant I will establish with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will place my laws in their understanding and inscribe them on their hearts; I will be God to them, and they will be a people to me.

And they will not teach each his fellow citizen and each his brother, saying, "Know the Lord," because all will know me, from their least to their greatest.

For I will be merciful to their iniquities, and their sins I will remember no more.

In calling it new, he has made the first old, but what is becoming old and growing aged is near to vanishing.
