2 Chronicles 8
1At the end of twenty years, during which Solomon had built the house of Yahweh and his own house,
2Solomon built the cities that Huram had given him and settled the Israelites there.
3Solomon went to Hamath-Zobah and prevailed against it.
4He built Tadmor in the wilderness and all the store cities that he built in Hamath.
5He built Upper Beth-horon and Lower Beth-horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars.
6and Baalath, all the storage cities that were Solomon's, all the chariot cities, the cities for his horsemen, and all Solomon's desires that he desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
7All the people who remained from the Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, who themselves were not from Israel.
8Their descendants who remained in the land after them, whom the Israelites had not destroyed, Solomon conscripted for forced labor until this day.
9Solomon appointed none of the sons of Israel as slaves for his work, for they were warriors, his chief captains, captains of his chariots, and his horsemen.
10These were the chief officers whom King Solomon appointed, two hundred fifty who ruled over the people.
11Solomon brought Pharaoh's daughter from the city of David to the house he had built for her, for he said, "My wife must not live in the house of David, king of Israel, because the places to which the ark of Yahweh has come are holy."
12Then Solomon offered burnt offerings to Yahweh on the altar of Yahweh that he had built before the porch.
13As the matter of each day required, offering as Moses commanded on the Sabbaths, the new moons, and the appointed feasts three times a year—in the feast of unleavened bread, the feast of weeks, and the feast of booths.
14According to his father David's custom, he appointed the priests' divisions for their service and the Levites for their watches—to praise and serve before the priests as each day's matter required, in its day—and the gatekeepers by their divisions at every gate, for David the man of God had so commanded.
15They did not turn aside from the king's commandment concerning the priests and Levites in any matter or the treasuries.
16All Solomon's work was prepared up to the day of the foundation of Yahweh's house and until its completion. The house of Yahweh was complete.
17Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber and to Eloth, on the seashore in the land of Edom.
18Huram sent him ships and servants who knew the sea by the hand of his servants; they came with Solomon's servants to Ophir, took four hundred fifty talents of gold from there, and brought them to King Solomon.
