2 Chronicles 17
1Jehoshaphat his son became king in his place and strengthened himself against Israel.
2He stationed troops in all the fortified cities of Judah and stationed garrisons in the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.
3Yahweh was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the earliest ways of his father David and did not seek the Baals.
4For he sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, not after Israel's deeds.
5Yahweh secured the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat, and he had wealth and glory in abundance.
6His heart was exalted in the ways of Yahweh, and moreover he removed the high places and the Asherim from Judah.
7In the third year of his reign he sent his princes Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah.
8And with them the Levites: Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-adonijah the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9They taught in Judah with the book of Yahweh's law with them, and they went about all the cities of Judah and taught among the people.
10Fear of Yahweh came upon all the kingdoms of the lands surrounding Judah, and they did not fight against Jehoshaphat.
11Some Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and silver tribute; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and seven thousand seven hundred male goats.
12Jehoshaphat prospered and grew exceedingly great, and he built fortresses and store cities in Judah.
13He had abundant business in the cities of Judah, and men of war, mighty men of strength, in Jerusalem.
14These were their musters clan by clan: for Judah, captains of thousands—Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand valiant champions.
15Beside him was Jehohanan the captain, with two hundred eighty thousand alongside him.
16And beside him Amasiah son of Zichri, who offered himself willingly to Yahweh, with two hundred thousand mighty warriors.
17From Benjamin: Eliada, a champion of valor, and with him two hundred thousand armed with bows and shields.
18Beside him was Jehozabad, with one hundred eighty thousand armed troops.
19These served the king, apart from those whom the king stationed in the fortified cities throughout all Judah.
