2 Chronicles 5

1All the work Solomon had done for the house of Yahweh was completed. He brought in the consecrated gifts of his father David—the silver, the gold, and all the vessels—and placed them in the treasuries of the house of God.

2Then Solomon gathered Israel's elders, all the tribal heads, and the chiefs of the fathers of the Israelites to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of Yahweh's covenant from David's city, which is Zion.

3All the men of Israel assembled to the king at the feast of the seventh month.

4All Israel's elders came, and the Levites carried the ark.

5They carried up the ark, the tent of meeting, and all the sacred vessels that were in the tent; the priests and Levites carried them up.

6King Solomon and all Israel's assembly who had gathered to him stood before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen too abundant to count or number.

7The priests brought the ark of Yahweh's covenant to its place, to the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, under the wings of the cherubim.

8The cherubim were spreading their wings over the place of the ark, and they covered the ark and its poles from above.

9They lengthened the poles so that the ends of the poles were visible from the ark before the inner sanctuary, but not from outside; there they remain to this day.

10Nothing was in the ark except the two tablets Moses placed at Horeb when Yahweh cut a covenant with the sons of Israel as they came out from Egypt.

11It happened when the priests came out from the holy place, for all the priests present had sanctified themselves without keeping their divisions.

12The Levite singers—all of them of Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and brothers—clothed in fine linen with cymbals, psalteries, and harps stood east of the altar, and with them one hundred twenty priests sounding trumpets.

13When the trumpeters and singers united as one to make a single sound ring out in praise and thanksgiving to Yahweh, raising their voices with trumpets, cymbals, and instruments of music while praising Yahweh—"For he is good, for his kindness endures forever"—the house filled with a cloud, the house of Yahweh.

14The priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh had filled the house of God.
