2 Chronicles 19

1Jehoshaphat king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.

2Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, "Should you help the wicked and love those who hate Yahweh? For this wrath rests on you from before Yahweh."

3But good things have been found in you, for you removed the Asherahs from the land and prepared your heart to seek God.

4Jehoshaphat dwelt in Jerusalem, and he went out again among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to Yahweh, God of their fathers.

5He appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city.

6And he said to the judges, "See what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for Yahweh, and he is with you in judgment."

7Now then, let the fear of Yahweh be upon you; take care and act, for there is no injustice with Yahweh our God, no partiality, no taking of bribes.

8Also, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat established some of the Levites, priests, and heads of Israel's families for Yahweh's judgment and disputes, and they returned to Jerusalem.

9He charged them, saying, "Thus you shall do in fear of Yahweh, in faithfulness, and with a perfect heart."

10Any dispute that comes to you from your brothers dwelling in their cities—between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments—you shall warn them so they do not become guilty against Yahweh, or else wrath will come upon you and your brothers. Do this, and you will not become guilty.

11Look, Amariah the chief priest oversees you in all matters of Yahweh, and Zebadiah son of Ishmael, ruler of the house of Judah, in all the king's matters; the Levites shall serve as officers before you. Be strong and act, and may Yahweh be with the good.
