1 Corinthians 15

1Now I make known to you, brothers, the gospel that I preached to you, which you also received and in which you also stand.

2By which you are also being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3For I passed on to you first what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.

4And that he was buried, and that he has been raised on the third day according to the scriptures.

5and that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

6Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers all at once, most of whom remain even now, but some have fallen asleep.

7Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.

8and last among all, as to one born untimely, he appeared to me also.

9For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle because I persecuted the church of God.

10By God's grace I am what I am, and his grace to me was not in vain; rather, I toiled more than all of them—yet not I, but God's grace with me.

11Therefore, whether I or they, so we proclaim, and so you believed.

12Now if Christ is proclaimed to have been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13But if there is no resurrection from the dead, then Christ has not been raised.

14If Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, and your faith is vain.

15We are even exposed as false witnesses for God, because we bore witness for God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.

16For if the dead are not raised, Christ has not been raised either.

17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

18Then those who fell asleep in Christ have also perished.

19If we have only hoped in Christ in this life, we are more wretched than all people.

20But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

21For since death came through a man, resurrection of the dead also came through a man.

22For just as all die in Adam, so also all will be made alive in Christ.

23But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then those belonging to Christ at his coming.

24Then comes the end, when he hands the kingdom over to God the Father, when he abolishes all rule and all authority and power.

25For he must reign until he puts all enemies under his feet.

26The last enemy to be abolished is death.

27For he subjected all things under his feet, but when he says that all things have been subjected, it is evident that this excludes the one who subjected all things to him.

28But when all things have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will be subjected to the one who subjected all things to him, so that God may be all in all.

29Otherwise, what will those being baptized for the dead do? If the dead are not raised at all, why then are they baptized for them?

30Why are we also in danger every hour?

31I die daily—by your boasting which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord.

32If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus as mere mortals do, what good is that to me? If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.

33Do not be deceived: evil company corrupts good character.

34Sober up righteously and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God—I speak to your shame.

35But one will say, "How are the dead raised, and with what sort of body do they come?"

36You fool, what you sow is not brought to life unless it dies.

37And what you sow, you do not sow the body that will be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or some other kind.

38But God gives it a body as he wished, and to each seed its own body.

39Not all flesh is the same flesh, but the flesh of humans is one, of beasts another, of birds another, and of fish another.

40There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly bodies is different, and the glory of the earthly bodies is different.

41The sun has one glory, the moon another, and the stars another—for one star differs from another in glory.

42So also the resurrection of the dead: sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption.

43It is sown in dishonor, raised in glory; sown in weakness, raised in power.

44A natural body is sown; a spiritual body is raised. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual one.

45So it is also written: the first man Adam became a living soul; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

46But the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual.

47The first man is from the earth, earthy; the second man is from heaven.

48As the earthy one is, so too are the earthy; and as the heavenly one is, so too are the heavenly.

49And as we have worn the image of the earthy, we will also wear the image of the heavenly.

50I affirm this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit God's kingdom; neither does corruption inherit incorruption.

51See, I reveal a mystery to you: we will not all fall asleep, but we will all be transformed.

52In an instant, in the blink of an eye, at the final trumpet—for it will sound, and the dead will rise imperishable, and we will be transformed.

53For this corruptible must be clothed with incorruption, and this mortal with immortality.

54But when this corruptible puts on incorruption, and this mortal immortality, then the word that stands written will come about: "Death was swallowed up into victory."

55Where is your victory, death? Where is your sting, death?

56Sin is the sting of death, and the law is the power of sin.

57But thanks to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58So, my dear brothers, be steadfast and unshakable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not futile in the Lord.
