Mark 11

1When they neared Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples.

2And he says to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied, on which no human has sat yet; untie him and bring him.”

3And if anyone says to you, "Why are you doing this?", say, "The Lord has need of it," and immediately he will send it back here.

4They went away and found a colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they untied him.

5And some of those standing there said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?"

6They said to them as Jesus had said, and they let them go.

7They brought the colt to Jesus, threw their garments on it, and he sat on it.

8Many spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the fields and spread them on the road.

9And those going ahead and those following cried out, “Hosanna! Blessed is the one coming in the Lord’s name!”

10Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David. Hosanna in the highest!

11He entered Jerusalem, into the temple, looked around at everything, and since the hour was already late, went out to Bethany with the twelve.

12And the following day, when they had left Bethany, he was hungry.

13And seeing from a distance a fig tree with leaves, he went over to see if perhaps he might find anything in it. When he reached it, he found nothing except leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

14And Jesus replied to it, "Never again will anyone eat fruit from you," and his disciples heard.

15They came to Jerusalem, and entering the temple, he began driving out the sellers and buyers in it, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves.

16And he did not permit anyone to carry a vessel through the temple.

17He taught them, saying, "Is it not written, 'My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations'? But you have made it a den of robbers."

18And the chief priests and scribes heard and were seeking how they might destroy him, for they feared him because the whole crowd was astounded by his teaching.

19And when evening came, they went out of the city.

20And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots.

21And Peter, remembering, said to him, "Rabbi, look, the fig tree you cursed has dried up."

22And Jesus answered them, "Have faith in God."

23Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,” and does not waver in his heart but believes that what he says comes about, it will be for him.

24For this reason I say to you, whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you received them, and they will be yours.

25And whenever you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your offenses.

27They came again to Jerusalem, and as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to him.

28And they said to him, "By what authority do you do these things? Or who gave you this authority to do these things?"

29But Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you under what authority I do these things."

30Was John's baptism from heaven or from men? Answer me.

31And they reasoned among themselves, saying, "What shall we say? If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Why then did you not believe him?'"

32But if we say, "From men"—they feared the crowd, for everyone held that John was really a prophet.

33And they said in reply to Jesus, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things."
