Jeremiah 30

1The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

2Thus says Yahweh, God of Israel: Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.

3For behold, days are coming, says Yahweh, when I will restore the captivity of my people Israel and Judah, says Yahweh; I will bring them back to the land that I gave their fathers, and they shall possess it.

4These are the words that Yahweh spoke concerning Israel and Judah.

5For thus says Yahweh: We have heard a voice of trembling, dread, and no peace.

6Please ask and see whether a male gives birth. Why do I see every man with his hands on his loins like a woman in labor, and all faces turned to pallor?

7Alas! For that day is so great that none is like it; it is a time of distress for Jacob, but he will be saved from it.

8It will happen in that day, declares Yahweh of hosts, that I will break his yoke off your neck and snap your bonds, and strangers will no longer enslave him.

9They will serve Yahweh their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.

10Do not fear, my servant Jacob, says Yahweh; nor be dismayed, Israel, for here I am, saving you from afar and your offspring from the land of their captivity; Jacob will return, be quiet and at ease, and none will terrify him.

11For I am with you, declares Yahweh, to save you; for I will completely destroy all the nations where I scattered you, but I will not completely destroy you—I will discipline you justly and will not acquit you.

12For thus says Yahweh: Your fracture is incurable, and your wound grievous.

13There is no one to judge your plea so you may be bandaged; you have no medicines for healing.

14All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you, for I have struck you with an enemy's blow, with ruthless chastisement, for the abundance of your iniquity, as your sins multiplied.

15Why do you cry over your affliction? Incurable is your pain because of the abundance of your iniquity; your sins have grown numerous, and I have done these things to you.

16Therefore all who devour you will be devoured, all your adversaries, every one of them, will go into captivity, your spoilers will become spoil, and all who plunder you I will give as plunder.

17For I will restore health to you and heal you from your wounds, says Yahweh, because they called you Outcast, saying, This is Zion—no one seeks her.

18Thus says Yahweh: Behold, I will restore the fortunes of Jacob's tents and have compassion on his dwelling places; the city shall be rebuilt on its mound, and the palace shall be inhabited in its rightful place.

19From them will come thanksgiving and the sound of revelers, and I will make them many and they will not diminish; I will also make them glorious, and they will not be brought low.

20Their children will be as in former times, their assembly steadfast before me, and I will punish all who oppress them.

21Their noble one will be from among them, and their ruler from their midst will come forth; I will bring him near, and he will approach me—for who is this who has pledged his heart to draw near to me? declares Yahweh.

22You will be my people, and I myself will be your God.

23Behold, the storm of Yahweh's wrath has gone forth, a continuing whirlwind; it shall whirl violently upon the head of the wicked.

24Yahweh's fierce anger will not turn back until he accomplishes it and until he establishes the purposes of his heart. In the latter days you will understand it.
