2 Timothy 1

1Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus through God's will, according to the promise of life in Christ Jesus.

2To Timothy, beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

3I thank God, whom I serve from my ancestors with a pure conscience, remembering you unceasingly in my supplications night and day.

4I long to see you, remembering your tears, so that I may be filled with joy.

5Recalling the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, I am convinced it is in you also.

6For this reason I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

7For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in the sufferings of the gospel according to the power of God.

9who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before eternal times.

10but now revealed through the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who indeed abolished death but illuminated life and immortality through the gospel.

11For which I was appointed a herald, an apostle, and a teacher.

12For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have trusted, and I am convinced that he is able to safeguard my deposit until that day.

13Keep the pattern of healthy words that you heard from me, in faith and love in Christ Jesus.

14Guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.

15You know that all those in Asia turned away from me, of whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

16May the Lord give mercy to Onesiphorus' household, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chain.

17But when he arrived in Rome, he eagerly sought me and found me.

18May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord in that day, and you know best how much he served in Ephesus.
