2 Corinthians 5

1For we know that if the earthly tent that is our house is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.

2For we groan in this, longing to be clothed with our house from heaven.

3If indeed, even when we have clothed ourselves, we will not be found naked.

4For we who are in the tent groan, weighed down—not wishing to be unclothed but to be clothed upon, so that mortality may be swallowed up by life.

5Now God prepared us for this and gave us the pledge of the Spirit.

6Therefore we are always courageous and know that while we are at home in the body, we are away from the Lord.

7For through faith we walk, not through sight.

8We are bold and would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

9Therefore we also strive, whether at home or away, to be pleasing to him.

10For we all must be revealed before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive the things done through the body according to what he did, whether good or evil.

11Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade people, but we are revealed to God; and I hope we are revealed also in your consciences.

12We do not commend ourselves to you again, but give you opportunity for boasting about us, so you may have something to answer those who boast by appearance and not by heart.

13For whether we are out of our minds, it is for God; or whether we are of sound mind, it is for you.

14For Christ's love compels us, because we have determined thus: one died for all; therefore all died.

15And he died for all, so that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised.

16So from now on we know no one according to flesh. Even if we have known Christ according to flesh, but now we no longer know him.

17So if anyone is in Christ, a new creation; the old things have passed away—behold, new things have become.

18But all things come from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.

19that God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not counting their offenses against them, and entrusting us with the message of reconciliation.

20Therefore we are ambassadors on Christ's behalf, as God pleads through us; on Christ's behalf we implore you, be reconciled to God.

21He made the one who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that we might become God's righteousness in him.
