Lumin Translation
Timothy 1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the command of God our Savior and Christ Jesus our hope.
To Timothy, genuine child in faith: grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
As I urged you to remain in Ephesus while heading to Macedonia, command certain men not to teach a different doctrine.
nor give attention to myths and endless genealogies, which supply speculations rather than God's stewardship in faith.
But the purpose of the command is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith.
From which some, having deviated, have turned aside to empty talk.
They want to be teachers of the law, yet understand neither what they say nor concerning what they affirm so confidently.
But we know that the law is good if anyone uses it lawfully.
knowing this, that law is not laid down for a righteous person but for lawless and unruly people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for father-murderers and mother-murderers, for manslayers.
for fornicators, men who lie with men, kidnappers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else opposes sound teaching.
according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was entrusted to me.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who strengthened me, because he deemed me faithful, appointing me to service.
Formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man, I received mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief.
But our Lord's grace overflowed all the more with faith and love in Christ Jesus.
The saying is faithful and worthy of full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am foremost.
But I was shown mercy for this reason, so that Christ Jesus might display all patience in me as the foremost, as an example for those about to believe on him for eternal life.
Now to the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory to the ages of the ages. Amen.
I entrust this charge to you, my child Timothy, in line with the prophecies leading the way before you, so that through them you may wage the good warfare.
Keeping faith and a good conscience, which some rejected and made shipwreck of the faith.
Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I handed over to Satan so they might be disciplined not to blaspheme.
