1 Peter 3

1Likewise, wives, submit to your own husbands, so that even if some disobey the word, they will be won through their wives' conduct without a word.

2observing your pure conduct in fear.

3Let your adorning not be the outward braiding of hair, wearing of gold, or putting on of clothes.

4But the inner person of the heart, in a gentle and quiet spirit that is imperishable, which is very precious before God.

5For so also in former times the holy women who hoped in God adorned themselves, submitting to their own husbands.

6as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose children you have become, doing good and not fearing any terror.

7Husbands, in the same way, live together with your wives insightfully, granting honor to the wife as to the frailer female vessel, as to coheirs of life's grace as well, so that your prayers are not impeded.

8Finally, all of you be harmonious, compassionate, brotherly, tenderhearted, and humble.

9Do not repay evil for evil or insult for insult, but bless instead, because you were called to this so that you might inherit a blessing.

10For whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.

11Let him shun evil and do good; let him seek peace and follow it.

12For the eyes of the Lord watch over the righteous, and his ears attend their supplication; but the face of the Lord opposes those who do evil.

13And who will harm you if you become zealous for what is good?

14But even if you suffer on account of righteousness, you are blessed. Do not fear their fear, nor be troubled.

15But sanctify Christ the Lord in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you.

16But with meekness and fear, keep a good conscience, so that those who revile you may be put to shame when they slander your good conduct in Christ.

17For it is better to suffer for doing good if the will of God so wills than for doing evil.

18Because Christ also suffered once for sins, righteous for unrighteous, to bring you to God, put to death in flesh but made alive in spirit.

19In which he also journeyed and proclaimed to the spirits in prison.

20who once disobeyed, when God's patience waited in the days of Noah, as the ark was being built, into which few—that is, eight souls—were saved through water.

21Baptism, which now also saves you as a counterpart—not the removal of the flesh's filth, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God—does so through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

22who, having gone into heaven, is at God's right hand, angels and authorities and powers subject to him.
