1 Kings 7

1Solomon took thirteen years to build his house, and he finished all his house.

2He built the House of the Forest of Lebanon, a hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide, and thirty cubits high, upon four rows of cedar pillars with cedar beams upon the pillars.

3It was covered with cedar above the beams over the forty-five pillars, fifteen in a row.

4There were windows in three rows, and light facing light in three ranks.

5All the doorways and doorposts were square with lintels, and one window faced another in three ranks.

6He made a pillared porch fifty cubits long and thirty cubits wide, along with a porch before them, and pillars and a thick beam before them.

7He made the porch of the throne where he would judge there, the judgment porch, and paneled it with cedar from floor to floor.

8His house where he dwelt in the other courtyard extending from the house to the porch was of the same workmanship as this. He also made a house for Pharaoh's daughter, whom Solomon had taken, like this porch.

9All these were costly stones, hewn to measure and sawn with saws, inside and outside, from the foundation to the coping, and likewise outside to the great court.

10It was founded with costly stones, great stones, ten-cubit stones, and eight-cubit stones.

11Above were costly stones according to the measures of hewn stone and cedar wood.

12The great court all around had three rows of hewn stone and a row of cedar beams, as did the inner court of Yahweh's house and the porch of the house.

13King Solomon sent and brought Hiram from Tyre.

14He was the son of a widow woman from the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a Tyrian, a bronze craftsman. He was filled with wisdom, understanding, and skill to do all bronze work. He came to King Solomon and did all his work.

15He cast two bronze pillars, each eighteen cubits high, and a cord twelve cubits long encircled either one.

16He made two capitals of cast bronze to place on the tops of the pillars: the one capital was five cubits high, and the other capital was five cubits high.

17Nets of latticework and wreaths of chainwork for the capitals on top of the pillars: seven for one capital and seven for the other.

18He made the pillars and two rows encircling the one network to cover the capitals atop the pomegranates, and he did likewise for the other capital.

19The capitals atop the pillars in the porch were lily-work, four cubits.

20Capitals also rose above the two pillars beside the belly—which lay next to the lattice network—and two hundred pomegranates stood in rows all around the second capital.

21He erected the pillars for the temple porch, erected the right pillar and named it Jachin, and erected the left pillar and named it Boaz.

22Atop the pillars was lily-work, and the work of the pillars was finished.

23He made the cast sea ten cubits from its one brim to the other, round all around, five cubits high; and a line of thirty cubits encircled it completely.

24Beneath its brim knops encircled it on every side, ten per cubit, surrounding the sea all around; the knops formed two rows, cast when it was cast.

25It stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east; the sea was above them, and all their rear parts faced inward.

26Its thickness was a handbreadth, and its brim was fashioned like a cup's brim, like a lily blossom; it held two thousand baths.

27He made ten bronze bases; each one four cubits long, four cubits wide, and three cubits high.

28This was the workmanship of the bases: borders belonging to them, and borders between the ledges.

29On the borders between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubim, and on the ledges a base above, with wreaths of latticework beneath the lions and oxen.

30Each base had four bronze wheels and bronze plates, and its four feet had shoulders for them; beneath the basin the shoulders were cast, with wreaths at the side of each.

31Its opening within the capital and above was one cubit, while its opening was round like the pedestal's workmanship, one and a half cubits; carvings were also upon its opening, with square borders rather than round.

32The four wheels were beneath the ledges, their axles set in the base; the height of each wheel was a cubit and a half cubit.

33The construction of the wheels was like that of a chariot wheel: their axles, their hubs, their rims, and their spokes—all cast.

34Each base had four shoulders at its four corners, which were part of the base itself.

35On the top of the base was a round band half a cubit high all around, and on the top of the base its ledges and its borders were one with it.

36He carved cherubim, lions, and palm trees on the plates of its ledges and on its borders, according to each one's proportion, with wreaths all around.

37He made the ten bases like this—one casting, one measure, one size for all of them.

38He made ten bronze basins, each holding forty baths and measuring four cubits, one upon each of the ten bases.

39He set five bases on the right side of the house and five on its left side, and he placed the sea on the right side of the house, facing east toward the south.

40Hiram made the basins, the shovels, and the bowls. Hiram finished all the work that he had done for King Solomon in the house of Yahweh.

41The two pillars, the two bowls of the capitals that stood atop the pillars, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that stood atop the pillars.

42and four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, two rows of pomegranates for each network to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were atop the pillars.

43and the ten stands, and the ten basins on the stands.

44and the one sea and the twelve cattle beneath the sea

45And the pots, the shovels, and the bowls, along with all these vessels that Hiram made for King Solomon for the house of Yahweh, were of polished bronze.

46The king cast them in the Jordan plain, in the clay soil between Succoth and Zarethan.

47Solomon left all the vessels because of their exceeding abundance; the weight of the bronze was not determined.

48Solomon made all the vessels belonging to the house of Yahweh: the golden altar, and the table of gold on which the bread of the Presence was.

49and the lampstands—five on the right and five on the left before the oracle—of pure gold, along with the flowers, the lamps, and the tongs of gold;

50and the cups, snuffers, basins, spoons, and censers of pure gold; and the hinges for the doors of the inner house, the holy of holies, and for the doors of the house, the temple, of gold.

51All the work that King Solomon performed for the house of Yahweh was finished. Solomon brought the dedicated things of his father David, the silver, the gold, and the vessels, and placed them in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh.
