Nehemiah 11

1The chiefs of the people settled in Jerusalem, while the rest of the people cast lots to bring one from every ten to live in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine portions in the other cities.

2The people blessed all the men volunteering to live in Jerusalem.

3These are the chiefs of the province who lived in Jerusalem, but in the cities of Judah each lived on his estate in their towns: Israel, the priests, the Levites, the Nethinim, and the sons of Solomon's servants.

4Some from the sons of Judah and from the sons of Benjamin lived in Jerusalem. From the sons of Judah: Athaiah son of Uzziah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalalel, from the sons of Perez.

5and Maaseiah son of Baruch, son of Col-hozeh, son of Hazaiah, son of Adaiah, son of Joiarib, son of Zechariah, son of the Shilonite.

6All the sons of Perez who dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred sixty-eight men of valor.

7And these are Benjamin's sons: Sallu son of Meshullam, son of Joed, son of Pedaiah, son of Kolaiah, son of Maaseiah, son of Ithiel, son of Jeshaiah.

8After him were Gabbai and Sallai, nine hundred twenty-eight.

9Joel son of Zichri was overseer over them, and Judah son of Hasenuah was second over the city.

10Among the priests: Jedaiah son of Joiarib, Jachin.

11Seraiah son of Hilkiah, son of Meshullam, son of Zadok, son of Meraioth, son of Ahitub, ruler of God's house.

12Their kindred who performed the service of the house, eight hundred twenty-two; and Adaiah son of Jeroham, son of Pelaliah, son of Amzi, son of Zechariah, son of Pashur, son of Malchiah.

13and his brothers, heads of their fathers' houses, two hundred forty-two; and Amashai son of Azarel, son of Ahasai, son of Meshillemoth, son of Immer.

14And their brothers, mighty warriors, one hundred twenty-eight; Zabdiel son of the great men was their overseer.

15Of the Levites: Shemaiah son of Hashub son of Azrikam son of Hashabiah son of Bunni.

16Shabbethai and Jozabad, from the chiefs of the Levites, oversaw the outside work of the house of God.

17Mattaniah son of Micha son of Zabdi son of Asaph, leader who began the praise in prayer, and Bakbukiah second among his kindred, and Abda son of Shammua son of Galal son of Jeduthun.

18All the Levites in the holy city numbered two hundred eighty-four.

19And the gatekeepers, Akkub, Talmon, and their kinsmen who guarded the gates, were one hundred seventy-two.

20The rest of Israel, the priests, and the Levites lived in all the cities of Judah, each in his inheritance.

21The Nethinims lived in Ophel, and Ziha and Gispa were in charge of the Nethinims.

22The overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi son of Bani, son of Hashabiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Micha from the sons of Asaph, the singers in charge of the service in God's house.

23For the king's commandment concerned them, and a sure provision was made for the singers according to the daily requirement.

24Pethahiah son of Meshezabeel, of the sons of Zerah son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.

25As for the villages with their fields, some of Judah's descendants lived in Kiriath Arba and its towns, in Dibon and its towns, and in Jekabzeel and its villages.

26and in Jeshua, in Moladah, and Beth-pelet

27and in Hazar Shual, and in Beersheba and its villages,

28and Ziklag, Mekonah, and its villages,

29and in En-rimmon, Zorah, and Jarmuth

30They lived in Zanoah, Adullam and their villages, Lachish and its fields, Azekah and its towns, from Beersheba to the valley of Hinnom.

31The sons of Benjamin from Geba lived in Mikmash, Aija, Bethel, and its towns.

32Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah

33Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim

34Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat

35Lod, Ono, and the valley of craftsmen.

36Some divisions of the Levites were in Judah and Benjamin.
