Galatians 3

1O senseless Galatians, who has bewitched you, before your very eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?

2I want to learn only this from you: did you receive the Spirit by works of law, or by hearing of faith?

3Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now finishing in the flesh?

4Did you suffer so many things in vain, if it really was in vain?

5Therefore, does the one providing the Spirit to you and performing mighty deeds among you do this by deeds of the law or by hearing with faith?

6Just as Abraham believed God, it was credited to him as righteousness.

7Know, then, that those of faith are sons of Abraham.

8Scripture foresaw that God justifies the nations by faith and preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham that all nations will be blessed in you.

9Therefore those of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

10For all who are from works of law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not remain in all the things written in the scroll of the law to do them."

11Now it is clear that no one is justified by the law before God, because the righteous will live by faith.

12But the law is not from faith; rather, "The one who does them will live by them."

13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us, because it stands written: "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree."

14so that the blessing of Abraham might reach the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

15Brothers, I speak in human terms: even a man's covenant, once confirmed, no one sets aside or adds to.

16But the promises were spoken to Abraham and his seed. He does not say, "And to seeds," as to many, but as to one, "And to your seed," which is Christ.

17What I mean is this: the law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, does not nullify a covenant God ratified beforehand, so as to abolish the promise.

18For if the inheritance comes from law, it no longer comes from promise, but God has graciously given it to Abraham through promise.

19What then is the law? It was added because of transgressions until the seed should come to whom the promise has been made, having been appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator.

20A mediator is not of one, but God is one.

21Is the law then against God's promises? Never! For if a law had been given that could give life, righteousness would indeed have come from law.

22But Scripture confined all things under sin, so that the promise through faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

23But before the coming of faith, we were guarded under the law and confined to the faith about to be revealed.

24So the law became our tutor to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25But since faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

26For you are all God's children through faith in Christ Jesus.

27For all who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

28There is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female; for you all are one in Christ Jesus.

29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring and heirs according to promise.
