Lumin Translation

Thessalonians 5

Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to be written to.

For you yourselves know exactly that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.

When they say, "Peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them, just as birth pangs seize a pregnant woman, and they will by no means escape.

But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the day should come upon you like a thief.

For you are all children of light and children of day. We are not of night, nor of darkness.

So then, let us not sleep like the rest, but let us stay vigilant and sober.

For those who sleep do so at night, and those who get drunk do so at night.

But we who are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

For God did not destine us for wrath but for the acquisition of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

who died for us, so that whether we stay alert or sleep, we might live together with him.

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you do.

Now we urge you, brothers, to recognize those who toil among you, who lead you in the Lord, and who admonish you.

And regard them beyond measure in love because of their work. Live peaceably among yourselves.

We urge you, brothers: warn the unruly, console the faint-hearted, uphold the weak, and show patience toward everyone.

See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue the good toward one another and toward all.

Always rejoice.

Pray unceasingly.

Give thanks in all things, for this is God's will in Christ Jesus for you.

Do not extinguish the Spirit.

Do not despise prophecies.

Examine all things, but keep the good.

Shun every form of evil.

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly, and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blamelessly in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Faithful is the one who calls you, who also will do it.

Brothers, pray for us.

Greet every brother with a holy kiss.

I put you on oath by the Lord that this letter be read to all the brothers.

Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
