Philippians 1

1Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, with the overseers and deacons.

2Grace and peace to you from God our Father and Lord Jesus Christ.

3I thank my God every time I remember you.

4I always make every one of my prayers for all of you with joy.

5for your participation in the gospel from the first day until now

6I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Christ Jesus.

7It is fitting for me to think this way about all of you, since I hold you in my heart both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, all of you being partners with me in grace.

8For God is my witness how I long for all of you in the compassion of Christ Jesus.

9And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment.

10so that you may approve what excels, and so be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ

11Filled with the fruit of righteousness through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

12Now I want you to know, brothers, that the things concerning me have rather advanced the gospel.

13so that my bonds in Christ became known to the whole praetorian guard and to all the others,

14And most of the brothers in the Lord, confident because of my bonds, dare even more fearlessly to speak the word.

15Some indeed proclaim Christ even because of envy and strife, but others also because of good pleasure.

16These indeed, out of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel.

17But these out of contention proclaim Christ not sincerely, thinking to stir up affliction for my bonds.

18What of it? Only that in every manner, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, but also will rejoice.

19For I know that this will work out for my salvation through your supplication and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

20According to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I will be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, even now Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

21For me, living is Christ, and dying is gain.

22But if I live in the flesh, this will be fruit from my work for me; yet what I will choose I do not know.

23But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better.

24But to continue in the flesh is more necessary on account of you.

25And confident of this, I know that I will remain and stay with you all for your progress and joy in the faith.

26so that your boasting in Christ Jesus about me may abound through my coming to you again.

27Only live worthily of Christ's gospel, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear about you that you stand in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel.

28And do not be frightened by those who oppose you in any way, which is to them a sign of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

29Because it has been granted to you for Christ's sake, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him.

30having the same struggle that you saw in me and now hear in me.
