Lumin Translation
Jonah 3
The word of Yahweh came to Jonah a second time, saying,
Rise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and announce to it the proclamation that I tell you.
Jonah arose and went to Nineveh according to the word of Yahweh. Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three days' journey.
Jonah began to enter the city a day's journey, and he cried out and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh will be overturned!"
The men of Nineveh believed God, called a fast, and put on sackcloth from their greatest to their least.
The report reached the king of Nineveh, and he rose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
He cried out and said throughout Nineveh by the command of the king and his nobles, saying, "Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water."
Let humans and animals cover themselves with sackcloth and cry out to God with strength, and let each turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in their hands.
Who knows whether God will turn and relent and turn from the burning of his anger so we do not perish?
God saw their deeds, that they had turned from their evil way, and God relented of the evil that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.
