Lumin Translation
Hosea 5
Hear this, priests, and pay attention, house of Israel, and house of the king—give ear! Judgment is against you, for you have become a snare at Mizpah and a net spread over Tabor.
Revolters have deepened the slaughter, but I bring chastening to all of them.
I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hidden from me; for now, Ephraim, you have prostituted yourself. Israel is defiled.
Their deeds do not enable them to return to their gods, for a spirit of whoredom is in their midst, and they do not know Yahweh.
Israel's pride testifies against him, so Israel and Ephraim stumble through their guilt; Judah stumbles with them too.
With their flocks and herds they go to seek Yahweh, but they do not find him; he has withdrawn from them.
They have betrayed Yahweh, for they have fathered foreign children; now a new moon will devour them with their fields.
Blow the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah! Raise the alarm at Beth-aven, behind you, Benjamin!
Ephraim will become desolate in the day of rebuke; among the tribes of Israel I have faithfully made it known.
The princes of Judah have become like boundary-shifters; I will pour my wrath upon them like water.
Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because he was content to walk after the commandment.
I am to Ephraim like a moth, and to the house of Judah like rottenness.
Ephraim became aware of his sickness and Judah of his wound, so Ephraim went to Assyria and sent to King Jareb; but he cannot heal you, nor does he cure your wound.
For I will be to Ephraim like a lion, and like a young lion to the house of Judah—I myself will tear them and go away; I will carry them off, and no one will deliver.
I will go away and return to my place until they bear their guilt and seek my face; in their distress they will seek me diligently.
