Lumin Translation
Hosea 2
Say to your brothers, 'My people,' and to your sisters, 'Shown compassion.'
Contend with your mother! Contend, for she is not my wife, nor am I her husband; let her remove her whoredoms from before her and her adulteries from between her breasts.
Lest I strip her naked and set her like the day of her birth, and place her like a wilderness and set her like a dry land, and kill her with thirst.
I will not pity her children, for they are children of harlotry.
Therefore, behold, I will enclose your path with thorns, and I will build her a wall, so she cannot find her paths.
She will pursue her lovers but fail to reach them; she will seek them but not find them. Then she will say, "I will go and return to my former husband, for it was better for me then than now."
She did not realize that I gave her grain, new wine, and oil, and lavished silver and gold on her, which they made for Baal.
Therefore I will return and take my grain at the proper time and my new wine in its appointed season, and reclaim my wool and my flax meant to cover her nakedness.
Now I will reveal her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers, and no man will rescue her from my hand.
I will bring all her rejoicing to an end, her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her appointed assemblies.
I will desolate her vines and her fig trees, which she said are my wages that my lovers gave me; I will turn them into a thicket, and the wild animals of the open country will devour them.
I will punish her for the days of the Baals, when she offered incense to them, adorned herself with her nose ring and ornaments, went after her lovers, and forgot me, declares Yahweh.
Therefore, behold, I will entice her, lead her to the wilderness, and speak to her heart.
I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor as a door of hope; she will respond there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day she came up from the land of Egypt.
It will be in that day, declares Yahweh, that you will call me “my husband” and no longer call me “my master.”
I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they will no longer be remembered by their name.
In that day I will make a covenant for them with the field creatures, with the birds of the skies, and with the earth's creeping things; I will break the bow, the sword, and warfare from the land, and lay them down securely.
I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you to me in righteousness, justice, steadfast love, and compassion.
I will betroth you to me in faithfulness, and you will know Yahweh.
It will be in that day, I will answer, says Yahweh; I will answer the heavens, and they will answer the earth.
And the earth will respond to the grain, the wine, and the oil, and they will respond to Jezreel.
I will sow her for myself in the land; I will show mercy to her not pitied; I will say to those not my people, "You are my people"; and they will say, "My God."
