Habakkuk 3
A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to Shigionoth.
Yahweh, I have heard your fame and trembled. Yahweh, bring your deeds to life amid the years; amid the years reveal them. In wrath remember mercy.
God comes from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and his praise filled the earth.
His brightness is like daylight, horns from his hand where his power lies hidden.
Pestilence goes before him, and burning heat goes forth at his feet.
He stood and measured the earth; he looked and made nations quake; ancient mountains scattered, eternal hills bowed; his ways are everlasting.
In distress I saw the tents of Cushan quake, the curtains of the land of Midian.
Were you angry with the rivers, Yahweh? Or was your anger against the rivers, your wrath against the sea—that you rode upon your horses, your chariots of salvation?
Your bow was utterly laid bare, your sworn word to the tribes. Selah. You broke open the earth with rivers.
The mountains saw you and shook; the flood of waters passed by. The deep gave voice on high and lifted its hands.
The sun and moon stood in their dwelling at the brightness of your arrows as they sped, at the gleam of your flashing spear.
In indignation you march through the earth and thresh the nations in anger.
You came forth to save your people, to save your anointed. You crushed the head from the house of the wicked, stripping bare the foundation to the neck. Selah.
You pierced the head of his villages with their own staffs; they stormed in to scatter me, exulting as if to devour the afflicted in secret.
You trampled the sea with your horses, through the heap of mighty waters.
I heard, and my body trembled; my lips quivered at the sound; rottenness enters my bones, and beneath me I tremble, because I will rest quietly for the day of distress, for the nation's ascent to invade us.
Though the fig tree does not blossom and no fruit appears on the vines, the olive produce fails and the fields bring no food, the flock is cut off from the fold and no cattle remain in the stalls.
Yet I will rejoice in Yahweh; I will be glad in the God of my salvation.
Yahweh, my Lord, is my strength; he sets my feet like those of deer and directs me upon my high places. To the choirmaster, on my stringed instruments.
