Esther 6

1That night the king's sleep fled, and he ordered the book of records of the matters of the days to be brought, and they were read before the king.

2It was found written that Mordecai had reported Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs who kept the door, as they sought to lay a hand on King Ahasuerus.

3The king said, "What honor and majesty has been given to Mordecai for this?" Then the king's servants attending him said, "Nothing has been done for him."

4The king said, "Who is in the court?" Haman had entered the outer court of the king's house to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.

5The king's servants said to him, "Look, Haman is standing in the courtyard." The king said, "Let him enter."

6Haman came in, and the king said to him, "What is to be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?" Haman said in his heart, "Whom does the king desire to honor more than me?"

7Haman answered the king, "A man whom the king delights to honor."

8Let them bring royal clothing that the king wears, and the horse that the king rides, on whose head a royal crown has been set.

9Give the clothing and the horse into the hand of one of the king's noble princes, and let them array the man whom the king wants to honor, mount him on the horse through the city square, and call out before him, "Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king wants to honor."

10The king said to Haman, “Hurry, take the clothing and the horse, just as you have said, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits at the king’s gate. Do not let a word fail from all that you have spoken.”

11Haman took the clothing and the horse, dressed Mordecai, made him ride through the city square, and proclaimed before him, "Thus shall it be done for the man whom the king delights to honor."

12Mordecai returned to the king's gate, but Haman rushed to his house in mourning with his head covered.

13Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had befallen him. His wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, "If Mordecai is of the seed of the Jews, before whom you have begun to fall, you will not prevail against him, for you will surely fall before him."

14While they were still speaking with him, the king's eunuchs arrived and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
