2 Thessalonians 2

1Now, brothers, we entreat you regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering to him.

2Do not let your minds be quickly shaken or become alarmed, whether by spirit or by word or by letter as from us, as though the day of the Lord had already come.

3No one should deceive you in any manner, for it will not come unless the rebellion comes first and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction.

4The one who opposes and exalts himself above everything called God or worshiped, so that he takes a seat in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

5Don't you remember that when I was still with you, I used to tell you these things?

6And now you know what holds him back, so that he may be revealed in his own season.

7For the mystery of lawlessness is already operative; only he who now holds back, until he is removed from the midst.

8And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of his mouth and destroy with the appearing of his coming.

9whose coming is according to Satan's activity with all power and signs and false wonders,

10And with all unrighteous deceit for those who are perishing, because they did not accept the love of the truth so they might be saved.

11For this reason God sends them a working of delusion, so that they believe the lie.

12so that all who did not believe the truth but were pleased with unrighteousness might be judged.

13But we must always thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you firstfruits for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and faith in the truth.

14to which he called you through our gospel to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions you were taught, whether by word or by our letter.

16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave eternal consolation and good hope through grace,

17Comfort your hearts and strengthen you in every good work and word.
