Bible answers
What does the Bible say about anxiety?
Scripture never shames you for feeling anxious — it meets the worry honestly and points it somewhere. Again and again the Bible turns anxiety into prayer: not a command to simply calm down, but an invitation to hand the weight to a God who is paying attention.
Key verses
- Philippians 4:6-7 Pray instead of worrying, and a peace beyond understanding guards your heart and mind.
- Matthew 6:25-34 Jesus says not to be anxious about your life; your Father knows what you need — seek him first.
- 1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you.
- Psalm 94:19 When anxieties multiply within, God’s consolations bring delight to the soul.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. The pattern is consistent: name the fear, bring it to God in prayer, and trust him with what you cannot control. Peace, in Scripture, is less a feeling you manufacture than a gift that follows when the worry is finally spoken aloud to the One who can carry it.
