1. Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,
2. Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the sons of Israel, and say to them, "This is the matter that Yahweh commanded, saying,"
3. Any man whatsoever from the house of Israel who slaughters an ox, or lamb, or goat in the camp, or who slaughters it outside the camp,
4. and does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting to present an offering to Yahweh before the tabernacle of Yahweh, blood will be reckoned to that man—he has shed blood—and that man will be cut off from among his people.
5. So that the sons of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, bringing them to Yahweh at the entrance to the tent of meeting, to the priest, and sacrificing them as peace offerings to Yahweh.
6. The priest shall sprinkle the blood on Yahweh's altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting, and burn the fat as a soothing aroma to Yahweh.
7. They shall no longer offer their sacrifices to the goat demons, after whom they prostitute themselves. This shall be a permanent statute for them throughout their generations.
8. Say to them: Any man whatsoever from the house of Israel, or from the sojourner who sojourns among you, who offers up a burnt offering or sacrifice.
9. and does not bring it to the entrance of the tent of meeting to offer it to Yahweh, that man shall be cut off from his people.
10. And any man of the house of Israel, or the sojourner who sojourns among them, who eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood and cut that one off from the midst of their people.
11. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your lives; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the life.
12. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any sojourner who sojourns among you eat blood.
13. Any man among the children of Israel, or among the foreigners dwelling in their midst, who hunts game—wild animal or bird that may be eaten—must pour out its blood and cover it with dust.
14. For the life of all flesh is its blood within its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, “Do not eat the blood of all flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off.”
15. Every person who eats a carcass or something torn, whether a native or a sojourner, shall wash his clothes, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening; then he shall be clean.
16. But if he does not wash them and does not bathe his body, he shall bear his iniquity.
