20. His parents therefore answered and said, "We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind."
21. But how he sees now, we do not know; or who opened his eyes, we do not know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak about himself.
22. His parents said these things because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had already agreed that if anyone confessed him as Christ, he would be expelled from the synagogue.
23. For this reason his parents said, "He is old enough. Ask him."
24. They called the man who was blind a second time and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”
25. He therefore answered, "Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I know: that, though blind, now I see."
26. So they said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
27. He answered them, "I said to you already, and you did not hear. Why do you want to hear it again? You don't want to become his disciples too, do you?"
28. They hurled insults at him and said, "You are that man's disciple, but we are disciples of Moses."
29. We know that God has spoken to Moses, but we do not know where this man is from.
30. The man answered and said to them, "For in this is the marvel—that you do not know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes."
