6. One of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.
7. He touched my mouth and said, "See, this has touched your lips, and your iniquity departs, and your sin is atoned for."
8. I heard my Lord's voice saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am. Send me."
9. He said, "Go and say to this people, 'Hear diligently, but do not understand; see diligently, but do not perceive.'"
10. Fatten this people's heart, dull their ears, and blind their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, turn back, and be healed.
11. I said, "How long, Lord?" He answered, "Until cities lie desolate without inhabitant, houses without man, and the land becomes desolate, a desolation."
12. And Yahweh has sent people far away, and forsaken places abound in the midst of the land.
13. Yet a tenth will remain in it, returning only to be consumed—like a terebinth and an oak whose stump endures when they are felled; the holy seed is its stump.
