2. He sprang up before him like a tender shoot, like a root from parched ground. No form or splendor marked him, and when we see him, no beauty draws us to desire him.

4. Surely he bore our sicknesses and carried our pains, yet we regarded him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
5. But he was pierced on account of our transgressions, bruised on account of our iniquities; the discipline of our peace rested upon him, and by his bruising we are healed.
6. All of us went astray like sheep, each to his own way; and Yahweh laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth—like a lamb led to the slaughter, and like an ewe before her shearers is silent—so he did not open his mouth.
8. He was taken from oppression and judgment, and who will consider his generation? For he was cut off from the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people—to them.
9. His grave was appointed among the wicked and among the rich at his death, though he had practiced no violence and no deceit was in his mouth.
10. Yahweh delighted to crush him and bring him grief. If you make his soul a guilt offering, he will see offspring, prolong his days, and the desire of Yahweh will succeed in his hand.
11. From the anguish of his soul he will see and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.
12. Therefore I will allot him a share among the great, and with the mighty he will divide the spoil, because he emptied his soul to death and was counted among the transgressors; he bore the sin of many and interceded for the rebels.
