1. At that time Merodach-Baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been sick and had recovered.
2. Hezekiah rejoiced over them and showed them his house of treasures—the silver and the gold, the spices and the fine oil, his full armory, and everything found in his treasuries. Nothing in his house nor in all his dominion did Hezekiah fail to show them.
3. Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, "What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?" Hezekiah said, "They came to me from a distant land, from Babylon."
4. He said, "What have they seen in your house?" Hezekiah said, "They have seen all that is in my house; there was no thing in my treasures that I have not shown them."
5. Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of Yahweh of hosts."
6. Behold, days are coming when all in your house and what your fathers have treasured until this day will be carried to Babylon; nothing will remain, says Yahweh.
7. Your sons who will come forth from you, whom you will father, will be taken and be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
8. Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The word of Yahweh that you have spoken is good." He said, "For there will be peace and truth in my days."
