9. My eye will not spare, nor will I show mercy; I will deal with you according to your ways, your abominations will be right there among you, and you will know that I, Yahweh, am the one who strikes.
10. See, the day—see, it comes: the morning has come forth, the rod has blossomed, pride has budded.
11. Violence has arisen as a rod of wickedness; none of them remains, nor their multitude, nor anything of theirs—no wailing among them.
12. The time has come, the day has arrived: let the buyer not rejoice, nor the seller mourn, for wrath is upon all its multitude.
13. For the seller will not reclaim what he sold, even though they remain alive; for the vision concerns its entire multitude—none will return; nor will anyone strengthen himself in his iniquity while he lives.
14. They sounded the trumpet to prepare everything, but no one goes to the battle, for my fury rests upon all its multitude.
15. The sword outside, plague and famine from the house—whoever is in the field will die by the sword, and whoever is in the city, famine and plague will devour him.
16. Their fugitives will escape and be on the mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them moaning, every man for his iniquity.
17. All hands will hang limp, and all knees will turn to water.
18. They will wear sackcloth, terror will cover them, shame on every face, and baldness on every head.
19. They will hurl their silver into the streets, and their gold will become filth; their silver and gold will not rescue them on the day of Yahweh's wrath, for they will not satisfy their lives or fill their bellies, since it has become the stumbling block of their iniquity.
20. He appointed the beauty of his ornament for majesty, but they made images of their abominations, their detestable things, in it; therefore I have given it to them as filthiness.
21. I will hand it to the strangers for prey and to the wicked of the earth for spoil; and they will defile it.
22. I will turn my face from them, and they will profane my hidden place; robbers will enter it and profane it.
23. Make the chain, for the land is full of bloody judgments, and the city is full of violence.
24. So I will bring the worst of the nations, and they will dispossess their houses; I will end the pride of the mighty, and they will defile their sanctuaries.
25. Destruction comes, and they will seek peace, but there will be none.
26. Calamity will come upon calamity, and there will be rumor after rumor; they will seek a vision from the prophet, but the law will perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
27. The king will mourn, the prince clothe himself with horror, and the hands of the land's people tremble; according to their way I will deal with them, and by their own justice I will judge them, and they will know that I am Yahweh.
