1. In the eleventh year, on the first day of the month, the word of Yahweh came to me, saying.
2. Son of man, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, "Aha, she is broken, the gateway of the nations; she has turned to me—I will be filled, now that she lies desolate."
3. Therefore thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I am against you, Tyre, and I will bring many nations up against you, as the sea heaves up its waves.
4. They will batter Tyre's walls and demolish her towers; I will scrape her dust from her and make her a bare rock.
5. She will be a place for spreading nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken it, declares the Lord Yahweh, and she will become plunder for the nations.
6. Her daughters in the countryside will be killed by the sword, and they will know that I am Yahweh.
7. For thus says the Lord Yahweh: Behold, I will bring Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, king of kings, against Tyre from the north, with horses, chariots, horsemen, a company, and many people.
8. He will kill your daughters in the field with the sword, set up a fort against you, throw up a ramp against you, and raise a shield against you.
9. He will direct his war engines against your walls and demolish your towers with his axes.
10. The multitude of his horses will cover you with their dust; your walls will quake at the sound of the horseman, wheel, and chariot when he enters your gates, as men enter a breached city.
11. With his horses' hooves he will trample all your streets; he will kill your people with the sword, and the pillars of your strength will come down to the ground.
12. They will plunder your wealth and pillage your merchandise; they will tear down your walls and demolish your treasured houses; and they will cast your stones, your timbers, and your dust into the middle of the waters.
13. I will silence the tumult of your songs, and the sound of your harps will not be heard again.
14. I will make you a bare rock, a place to spread nets; you will not be rebuilt again, for I, Yahweh, have spoken, declares Lord Yahweh.
15. Thus says the Lord Yahweh to Tyre: Will not the islands quake at the sound of your fall, the groaning of the slain, the killing and slaughter in your midst?
16. All the princes of the sea will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their embroidered garments; they will clothe themselves with trembling, sit on the ground, quiver every moment, and stand appalled at you.
17. They will take up a lament over you and say to you, "How you have perished, dweller amid the seas, the famed city that was mighty in the sea—she and her residents, who spread terror to all who lived there!"
18. Now the islands will tremble on the day of your fall, and the islands in the sea will be dismayed at your departure.
19. For thus declares Lord Yahweh: When I make you a ruined city, like cities no one inhabits, when I bring up the deep upon you and the vast waters cover you;
20. I will bring you down with those descending into the pit, to the people of old, and settle you in the nether regions of the earth amid ancient ruins, alongside those going down to the pit, so you will not dwell; and I will place beauty in the land of the living.
21. I will appoint terrors for you, and you will not be; though you are sought, you will not be found ever again, says the Lord Yahweh.
