30. The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging on a tree.
31. God exalted him at his right hand as leader and savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
32. And we are witnesses of these words, along with the Holy Spirit whom God gave to those who obey him.
33. But they were enraged when they heard this and wanted to kill them.
34. But a certain Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law respected by all the people, stood up in the council and commanded the men to be taken outside briefly.
35. He said to them, "Men of Israel, pay attention to yourselves concerning these men—what you are about to do."
36. For before these days Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody himself; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, rallied. He was killed, and all who obeyed him scattered and amounted to nothing.
37. After this man, Judas the Galilean arose in the days of the census and drew people after him. He too perished, and all who obeyed him were scattered.
38. And now I say to you: keep away from these men and let them be, for if this plan or this deed comes from humans, it will collapse.
39. But if it is from God, you will be unable to destroy them, lest you even be found fighters against God. And they were persuaded by him.
40. And summoning the apostles, they beat them and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and released them.
41. So they went from before the council rejoicing that they were deemed worthy to be dishonored for the name.
42. Every day, both in the temple and house to house, they never ceased teaching and preaching Jesus the Christ.
