11. When she went to get it, he called to her and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."
12. She said, “As Yahweh your God lives, I have no cake—only a handful of flour in the jar and a little oil in the jug. Here I am, gathering two sticks so I can go in and prepare it for me and my son, that we may eat it and die.”
13. Elijah said to her, "Do not be afraid; go and do as you said, but first make me a little cake from it and bring it out to me, and afterward make for you and your son."
14. For thus says Yahweh, God of Israel: the jar of flour will not be consumed, nor the jug of oil lack, until the day Yahweh gives rain upon the face of the ground.
15. She went and did according to Elijah's word, and she and he and her house ate many days.
16. The jar of flour did not run out, nor did the jug of oil lack, according to the word of Yahweh that he spoke through Elijah.
17. After these events, the son of the woman who owned the house became ill, and his illness grew so severe that no breath remained in him.
18. She said to Elijah, "What is between me and you, man of God? Have you come to me to bring my iniquity to remembrance and to kill my son?"
19. He said to her, “Give me your son.” He took him from her bosom, carried him up to the upper room where he was staying there, and laid him on his bed.
20. He called to Yahweh and said, "Yahweh my God, have you even afflicted the widow with whom I am staying by putting her son to death?"
21. He stretched himself upon the child three times, called to Yahweh, and said, "Yahweh my God, please let this child's soul return within him."
22. Yahweh heard Elijah's voice, the child's soul returned within him, and he lived.
23. Elijah took the child and carried him down from the upper room into the house, then gave him to his mother; Elijah said, "Look, your son is alive."
