# Find words to pray, from Scripture.

> Say what is on your heart. Lumin offers two or three Bible verses to pray and a short draft built on them, with every verse checked and shown in full. Then make it yours. The prayer is between you and God.

Free, no account, three questions a day on the website. AI does not pray for anyone: the draft is a starting place, and the verses are the part to trust. Verses are quoted from the Lumin Translation.

## How to use it

1. **Say it plainly.** Write what is happening the way you would tell a friend. You do not need church words.
2. **Read the verses first.** Lumin names two or three verses and each one is checked and shown in full. Read them slowly. They are God’s words; the draft is not.
3. **Make the prayer yours.** Change the draft, shorten it, or set it aside and pray the verses as they are. God hears you, not the wording.

## Prayers from Scripture

Written by Lumin’s editors to stay close to each verse. Put your own words where the brackets are.

### When you are anxious

> Be anxious about nothing. Rather, in every matter make your requests known to God by prayer and pleading, along with thanks. And God’s peace, which is beyond all understanding, will stand guard over your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. ([Philippians 4:6-7](https://www.lumin.faith/read/philippians/4#6))

God, here is what I am anxious about: [name it]. I bring it to you instead of carrying it alone. Thank you for hearing me. Guard my heart and my thoughts with your peace, the kind I cannot explain. Amen.

### When you are worn out

> but those who wait in hope for Yahweh will draw fresh strength. They will rise on pinions like eagles; they will run and not wear out; they will walk and not tire. ([Isaiah 40:31](https://www.lumin.faith/read/isaiah/40#31))

Lord, I am tired, and I have run on my own strength too long. Teach me to wait for you. Give me fresh strength for today, enough to walk and not give up. Amen.

### When you need to decide

> Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways know him, and he will make your paths smooth. ([Proverbs 3:5-6](https://www.lumin.faith/read/proverbs/3#5))

God, I do not see the whole path, and my own understanding only goes so far. I want to trust you with all my heart in this choice: [name it]. Show me the next step, and make the way plain. Amen.

### When your heart is broken

> Yahweh is close to those whose hearts are broken, and he saves those whose spirits are crushed. ([Psalm 34:18](https://www.lumin.faith/read/psalm/34#18))

Lord, my heart is broken, and I do not have many words. You say you are close to people like me. Be close now. Hold what I cannot hold, and save me when my spirit is crushed. Amen.

### For someone who is sick

> Heal me, Yahweh, and I will be healed; save me, and I will be saved, for you are my praise. ([Jeremiah 17:14](https://www.lumin.faith/read/jeremiah/17#14))

God, I pray for [name]. You are the one who heals. Heal them in body and in spirit, give the people caring for them wisdom, and let them know they are not alone. Amen.

### When you cannot sleep

> In peace I will lie down and sleep at once, for you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety. ([Psalm 4:8](https://www.lumin.faith/read/psalm/4#8))

Lord, the day is over and my mind will not stop. I give you what is still undone. You alone keep me safe, so let me lie down in peace and sleep. Amen.

### When you need forgiveness

> God, create a clean heart for me, and renew a steadfast spirit inside me. ([Psalm 51:10](https://www.lumin.faith/read/psalm/51#10))

God, I have done wrong: [name it]. I do not want to hide it from you. Create a clean heart in me, and give me a steady spirit to do what is right from here. Amen.

### To give thanks

> Come through his gates with thanksgiving, into his courts with praise; thank him, bless his name. ([Psalm 100:4](https://www.lumin.faith/read/psalm/100#4))

Lord, before I ask for anything, thank you. Thank you for [name three things]. I come to you with thanks and bless your name. Amen.

### To bless someone

> ‘May Yahweh bless you and keep you; may Yahweh make his face shine toward you and show you grace; may Yahweh lift his face toward you and grant you peace.’ ([Numbers 6:24-26](https://www.lumin.faith/read/numbers/6#24))

God, bless [name] and keep them. Let your face shine on them and show them grace. Turn toward them and give them peace. Amen.

## Questions

### Can AI write a prayer for me?

It can write a draft. AI can put words together that sound like a prayer, but it does not believe, hope, or pray through them. Use the draft as a starting place: read the verses it names, then change the words until they are honestly yours, or pray the verses themselves.

### Is it okay for a Christian to use AI to help pray?

Many Christians use written prayers, prayer books, and the Psalms to find words. AI help can work the same way when it points you to Scripture and stays small. The danger is letting it replace your own honest words or the people who pray with you. Lumin’s longer answer is in the guide on whether Christians should use AI for prayer.

### How do I find Bible verses to pray?

Tell Lumin what you are facing in a sentence, and it names verses that fit, each one checked and shown in full from the Lumin Translation. You can also start from the prayers on this page, or from the topic pages, which gather the verses on anxiety, grief, fear, and more.

### Can AI pray for me?

No. Prayer is a person speaking with God. AI can suggest words and verses, but it cannot pray for you or with you. Ask a friend, your church, or a pastor to pray for you as well.

### Is the prayer generator free?

Yes. It is free with no account, up to three questions a day on the website. In the Lumin app there is more room to ask, plus morning and evening prayer.

### Is what I write stored?

Questions you ask Lumin on the website are kept without your name, to improve the answers, as the privacy policy explains. Do not include anything you would not want written down, such as other people’s full names or medical details.
